5 Ways to Enjoy Nature with Little Ones Before Summer Ends

Summer isn’t over yet! Enjoy every last minute of sunshine with five nature-inspired outings you can enjoy with little ones. Check out our guide to free and low-cost ways to get out in nature before the end of summer.
Visit a sunflower farm
The end of the summer is an ideal time to visit a sunflower farm! Take fun family photos next to the brightly-hued blooms, wander through rows of towering flowers, and participate in other farm happenings, like hay rides, corn mazes, craft shows, petting farms, and more. You may even be able to pick your own sunflowers for a reasonable cost.
Check out an apple orchard
Go to a local nature preserve, botanical gardens, or state park
Browse a farmers market
Take advantage of the farmers markets in your town or city before they close for the season. You can score some wonderful locally-grown, seasonal produce while supporting farmers in your area. The farmers market is a great place for children to explore fresh fruits, vegetables, baked goods, animal products and more.
Spend a night under the stars
Grab some cozy blankets, mugs of hot chocolate, and s’mores fixings, and head outside for some old-fashioned stargazing. Help little ones find the moon and stars. Use a GPS-based constellation app to help older children locate constellations. You may even spot a shooting star or a satellite!
No matter how you choose to get outdoors to enjoy the last weeks of summer, we hope your family makes lots of great memories together.
Wishing you an enjoyable end to summer from all of us at Honest Buck!
