Fall Snack Recipe | Healthy Apple NachosĀ

Celebrate autumn with your preschoolers by making healthy apple nachos! Little ones will love this wholesome, seasonal snack, and we bet you will too. Check out the recipe below.Ā

How to Make Healthy Apple Nachos

Making apple nachos is quick, easy, and fun. This is a great recipe for preschoolers because you can customize the snack according to taste and preferences, and kids love adding their favorite toppings to make the snack their own. Try it at home with little ones or at your childcare center.

Here’s what you will need:

Ingredients:

  • Apples – Your favorite variety, red or green. Fuji, Gala, Honeycrisp, Red Delicious, and Golden Delicious are popular choices.Ā

The following are optional toppings for apple nachos. Feel free to include additional options that your kiddos may like.Ā

  • Nut butter – Peanut butter, almond butter, sunflower butter…or skip if food allergies are a concern.Ā
  • Caramel sauce or chocolate sauce – Will work in place of nut butter, or in addition!
  • Chocolate chips – Mini chocolate chips, cacao nibs, or carob chips are good options.Ā
  • Cinnamon – A dash adds warmth and seasonal taste.Ā
  • Dried fruit – Raisins, cranberries, pineapple, shredded coconut, and moreĀ
  • Whipped cream – A whipped topping, store-bought or homemade, adds creamy goodness and a touch of whimsy.Ā
  • Lemon or lime – Either will help keep the apples from browning.Ā

Here’s what to do:Ā

  1. Core and slice apples. Place apple slices in a bowl with lemon or lime juice and toss to coat. Arrange apple slices on a plate.Ā
  2. If using nut butter, place in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 30 seconds, or until pourable. If using caramel sauce or chocolate sauce, drizzle over apple slices.Ā
  3. Top the apple slices with desired toppings and enjoy!

We hope you and your little ones enjoy these healthy apple nachos this fall!Ā
