Thanksgiving is right around the corner, which means now is the perfect time to help young children grow a thankful heart. In this blog post, we show you how to make an easy, adorable gratitude chain that you can use to help little ones think about what they are grateful for and decorate your classroom in the process. Keep reading to find out more.

How to Make a Thanksgiving Gratitude Chain

Making a gratitude chain for Thanksgiving is a quick, easy, and fun project.

Here’s what you will need:

  • Construction paper in fall colors – red, orange, yellow, brown, green, purple
  • Scissors or a paper cutter
  • Black markers
  • Stapler

Here’s what to do:

Before you begin the activity with your preschoolers, cut up the construction paper into strips using either scissors or a paper cutter.

When you are ready to do the activity, hand out one to three strips of paper to each child in your class, depending on how long you would like to make your gratitude chain.

Then, help children to think about what they are thankful for. You can brainstorm a list of ideas together as a class. Here are some ideas:

  • Family
  • Friends
  • Health
  • Home
  • Pets
  • Food
  • Clothes
  • Teachers
  • Favorite Toy
  • Neighborhood/Community

With adult help as needed, children will use a black marker to write one thing they are thankful for on each strip of paper.

Collect all the strips of paper. Curl each strip into a circle and staple the ends together. Link all the strips together to make a chain.

Hang the chain up around your classroom for a cute and festive Thanksgiving decoration.

From all of us at Honest Buck Accounting, we wish you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving.
