Summer Snack Recipe : Cinnamon Graham Crackers

Is it even summer without s’mores? Add a wholesome twist to the ultimate summer treat with our homemade cinnamon graham cracker recipe. No artificial ingredients, just old-fashioned goodness you and your kiddos will love!

Cinnamon Graham Crackers

We love graham crackers for s’mores and snacking, but we don’t love many of the store-bought options out there, which often contain artificial ingredients. Our recipe uses pantry staples to create wholesome, delicious cinnamon graham crackers the whole family will enjoy.

Here’s what you will need:

  • 2 cups graham flour or whole wheat flour
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup whole milk

For the cinnamon sugar coating:

  • 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 3 Tbsp white cane sugar

Here’s what to do:

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together dry ingredients: flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. Add cold butter, working in the butter with your hands until the mixture resembles sand.
  3. Use a spatula or your hands to mix until the batter comes together in a ball. If the batter seems dry, add milk one Tbsp at a time until it becomes soft and pliable.
  4. Divide the dough into 2 disks and wrap with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least one hour and up to 2 days.
  5. When you are ready to bake the graham crackers, use a rolling pin to roll the dough between 2 lightly floured pieces of parchment paper to approximately 1/8” thickness. Cut the dough into 2” squares, spaced about an inch apart, and transfer parchment paper with shaped crackers onto a baking sheet.
  6. Gather the scraps, reroll, and reshape the crackers.
  7. Optional: Gently line the middle of each graham cracker with a butter knife and make indentations with a fork to create a “genuine” graham cracker look.
  8. Refrigerate the prebaked crackers for 30 minutes to help them firm up a bit.
  9. Preheat the oven to 350˚F, remove crackers from the refrigerator, and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the crackers before placing them in the oven.
  10. Bake graham crackers for 10 minutes, or until golden brown and firm to the touch. Let cool and enjoy!

Store graham crackers in an airtight container in a cool, dark pantry for up to 1 week.

We hope your family loves these homemade cinnamon graham crackers!

Wishing you a sweet rest of the summer, from all of us at Honest Buck.
